Morocco Desert Tour 4 Days – Erg Chebbi
We are going to meet you in Marrakesh and drive to Ouarzazat through the spectacular Tizi nTichka pass that reaches an altitude of 2260m.
The High Atlas Mountains are surrounded by magnificent landscapes and Berber towns.
Arriving at Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, Morocco’s largest kasbah and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, we will have lunch in the Kasbah and then continue to Dades valley.
Ait Benhaddou Village
Ait Benhaddou is a small village . It is known for its well-preserved kasbahs, or traditional Moroccan fortresses, which have been used as a backdrop for numerous movies and TV shows, including Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Game of Thrones.
Zagora City
The Zagora Desert is a region in Morocco located in the southeastern part of the country, near the city of Zagora. It is known for its vast stretches of sand dunes and is a popular destination for tourists who want to experience the Sahara Desert.
Atlas Mountains
The Atlas Mountains are a mountain range in Morocco that stretches for about 1,200 miles from the Atlantic coast in the west to the Algerian border in the east. The highest peak in the range is Toubkal, which stands at an elevation of over 13,000 feet.
Itinerary Day per Day:
We are about to begin the Sahara Desert journey from Marrakesh. leaving the tumult of the city and taking the rugged road towards Ouarzazate through the spectacular landscape of the Atlas Mountains.
This tour will allow us to visit the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou which, at an altitude of 160m. initially a port of passage for traders crossing the Sahara desert.
This UNESCO World Heritage Site is also recognized as the place to shoot films such as “Laurence of Arabia” and “Gladiators”.
Morocco Desert Tour 4 Days – Erg Chebbi
DAY 1 : MARRAKECH – ATLAS MOUNTAINS- KASBAH AIT BEN HADDOU- BOUMALNE DADES VALLEY
The first day of the tour goes from Marrakech over the High Atlas Mountains with steep, winding roads, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2260 m above the sea level. The high mountain pass offers stunning views of mountain landscapes. After crossing the mountains we will reach one of the highlights of the tour – the UNESCO World Heritage site of Kasbah Ait ben Haddou. It is a fortified village along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. Due to its ancient historic look a number of world famous movies shot in Morocco have used Ait ben Haddou as a location. The route continues through the Valley of Thousand Kasbahs. The first night is spent in a hotel in the Dades Valley.

DAY 2: BOUMALNE DADES VALLEY –TINGHIR- TODRA GORGE – MERZOUGA
The second day of this adventure begins with a hearty breakfast at the hotel before taking a four hour drive to Merzouga. Along the route there will be a chance to stop at the small town of Tinghir, take a walk through the Todra oasis and then onto the canyons before visiting two more towns at Erfoud and Rissani. When we arrive at our destination in Merzouga, we will be met by a camel caravan. At this stage there will be an hour long ride through the Erg Chebbi Dunes where the trek will coincide with the setting of the Saharan sun. We will then camp over in a Bedouin desert camp.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA
The third day on this intrepid tour of the Moroccan desert will see us enjoy Merzouga. We will have breakfast at the hotel, an opportunity to swim in the hotel pool, free time to explore the activities on offer in the desert area and enjoy an overnight stay in the hotel with a fine dinner to round the day off.
There are plenty of activities like quad biking, buggy riding across the dunes and biking but these will be at your own expense.

DAY 4: MERZOUGA – OUARZAZATE- ATLAS MOUNTAINS- MARRAKECH
There is a long drive of around 9 hours ahead of us as we drive back to Marrakech. The day begins with breakfast and along the way there will be a stop at the city of Ouarzazate for lunch. We arrive back in Marrakech around 19h00.
